Mohammed unveils Dh1b hospital

Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Sunday laid the foundation stone of the more than Dh1 billion Jalilah Specialised Paediatric Hospital in the surroundings of Al Wasl Hospital. The project will be completed next year.

Shaikh Mohammed was briefed about the design of the hospital. He expressed pleasure about the project and called for focusing on the needs of sick children.

"The hospital should be a sanctuary for children," Shaikh Mohammed said. "It is our national and humanitarian duty to provide healthy environment to them."

The hospital is named after Shaikh Mohammed's daughter, Shaikha Jalilah Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Shaikh Mohammed, accompanied by Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Shaikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, and other officials, viewed an electronic presentation of the hospital.

Saeed Al Murooshid, director of the Dubai Health Authority, said: "This state-of-the-art medical institution constitutes a historic step towards updating comprehensive healthcare in the UAE."

He added that the hospital, spread over 90 square metres with a capacity of 200 beds, would have the latest equipment.

Police officers promoted

His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has issued a resolution, promoting three brigadiers at Dubai Police to the rank of major general.

The officers are Dr Mohammad Ahmad Bin Fahd, Director of Dubai Police Academy, Mohammad Saif Al Zafein, Director of the Traffic Department, and Abdul Jalil Mahdi Mohammad, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department.

The resolution also provides for promotion of 2,231 police officers and non-commissioned officers to their respective next ranks.

Three officers were promoted to the rank of brigadier. They are Dr Al Salal Saeed Bin Huwaidi, Anas Abdul Rahman Al Matroushi, and Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri.
