ID registration in just five minutes
The ID committee of the Emirates Identity Authority will start within two weeks an intensive campaign to register all residents under its new ID project, Dr Ali Al Khouri, General Manager of the committee, told Emirates Business.
The time taken for the procedure of registration, he said, will come down to five minutes from three hours.
Lieutenant Ahmed Nasir Al Raisi, General Manager for the central operation at Abu Dhabi Police Headquarters and head of the executive committee in the council of Emirates ID administration, said the number of those registered under the ID project has reached 1.8 million.
Mobile centres and the internet will be deployed to expedite the process, he said.
In the coming weeks, the committee aims to register 20,000 residents and nationals in one day, a big jump from the current figure of 3,000-7,000 a day, said Al Khouri.
Al Raisi pointed out that the ministers' council has fixed December as the deadline for registration, and fines will be imposed on those who are late.
