UAE may extend visas for expats made redundant

The UAE is considering a change to its visa laws that would allow workers who lose their jobs to remain in the country for up to six months, reported The National.

The UAE Minister of Labour, Saqr Ghobash, said the proposed change has been included in one of two laws aimed at helping expat workers cope with the economic slowdown. Both are finished and awaiting approval and should become law within two months, he said.
